Terms of Service

Welcome to Grill Task! These terms are the agreement between you and Grill Task when you use our website, web app, and upcoming mobile app (together, "Grill Task" or "the service"). By creating an account or using Grill Task, you agree to them.

1. What Grill Task is

Grill Task lets people assign tasks to family members, roommates, or teammates; complete them (optionally with photo proof); and earn points toward rewards that the task assigner sets. Points and rewards exist only inside Grill Task - points have no cash value, and rewards are promises between you and the person you're linked with, not from us.

2. Your account

You need an account (name, email, password) to use the app. Keep your password private - you're responsible for what happens on your account.
You must be at least 13 to create an account. Younger children may use Grill Task only through an account created and supervised by a parent or guardian.
Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. Your content

Tasks, rewards, and photos you submit stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them to the people you've linked with - that's what the app does.
Only upload photos you have the right to share. No photos of other people without their permission.
Tasks, their photos, and chat messages are automatically cleaned up after a while - about 30 days on the Free plan, 180 days on Plus, and 2 years on Pro. Your points, balances, and rewards are permanent and never removed.

4. Acceptable use

No illegal, harmful, threatening, or abusive content or behavior.
No inappropriate content in tasks, rewards, or photos - remember families and kids use this app.
No trying to break, overload, or sneak around the service's security or its free-plan limits.
No using Grill Task to collect other people's information.

We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

5. Free plan and Grill Task Plus

The Free plan connects up to 5 people and includes unlimited tasks, points and rewards (up to 5 active rewards per person), 1 proof photo per task, chat (50 messages a day, 30 a day in each group), 1 private group of up to 6 people, joining any group you are invited to, 5 AI helper messages a week, and a 30-day task history.
Grill Task Plus - $3.97/month or $19.97/year - connects up to 15 people and adds task templates, vacation mode (pausing recurring tasks), a reward library, mystery rewards, assigning one task or reward to several people at once, giving or revoking points directly, a photo profile picture, creating up to 5 private groups of up to 50 people each with co-organizers and pinned announcements, up to 5 proof photos per task, up to 20 active rewards per person, a 180-day history, unlimited messages, 30 AI helper messages a week, and a Plus badge.
Free trial: the Plus monthly plan includes a 3-day free trial, once per customer. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you are charged nothing. The yearly plan and Pro do not include a trial.
Grill Task Pro - $9.97/month (monthly only) - everything in Plus, connects up to 50 people, up to 30 proof photos and video proof per task, up to 25 private groups of up to 300 people each, up to 100 active rewards per person, nudges (emailing someone an on-demand reminder to finish a task), team analytics with streaks and reliability tracking, a weekly summary email, full data export, a 2-year history, 100 AI helper messages a week, and priority support. If a Pro subscription ends, the extra data beyond the free allowance is kept for 30 more days and then cleared.
Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel anytime, and you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Prices may change with notice before your next renewal.
Refunds - 3 days: if you are not happy with a payment, email within 3 days of that charge and we will refund it. Refunds are not automatic - you have to ask, and cancelling a subscription on its own does not refund anything. The 3 days run from the date of the charge, so a renewal is judged on its own charge date rather than when you first subscribed. After 3 days a payment is non-refundable, though you can still cancel to stop future renewals, and you keep your plan until the period you already paid for ends. Nothing here takes away any refund rights the law gives you where you live.
Payments are handled securely by Stripe on the web, including Apple Pay. Card numbers never touch our servers - Stripe handles them entirely. An iPhone App Store version is planned; when it arrives, purchases made there will go through App Store billing instead.

6. Ending things

You can stop using Grill Task and ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or end accounts that violate these terms or harm the service or other users.

7. Disclaimers

Grill Task is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it fast and reliable, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that data will never be lost - please don't use it as your only copy of anything important. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.

8. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Grill Task after a change means you accept the new terms.

Plain-language summary: be kind to the people you share tasks with, and keep your sign-in to yourself. Only upload photos and videos you're allowed to share. Points are for fun - they aren't money and can't be cashed out. Plus is $3.97/month (with a 3-day free trial) or $19.97/year, Pro is $9.97/month, and you can cancel whenever you like. Not happy with a payment? Email us within 3 days of the charge and we'll refund it. And your data is yours: you can export it, and you can leave - taking it with you - at any time.
